RELIANCE LUBRICANTS

1L 4T Motorcycle Oil SN 20W50

A high-performance semi-synthetic 1L 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil (20W-50, API SN) engineered for smooth throttle response, superior anti-wear protection, and dependable lubrication under high-temperature and heavy-load riding conditions.

What this oil is for

Formulated for modern air- and liquid-cooled 4-stroke motorcycle engines that demand robust protection at high operating temperatures — sportbikes, cruisers, heavy commuters, and single/parallel twins used in city traffic, long-distance touring, or hot-climate conditions. Ideal where a thicker hot-grade oil (20W-50) is recommended by the manufacturer or chosen for increased film strength and reduced oil consumption in worn or high-load engines.

Key performance highlights

API SN certified — meets modern gasoline engine requirements for deposit control, oxidation resistance, and emissions system protection. High hot-viscosity (20W-50) — thicker oil film at operating temperature for excellent load-bearing capability and reduced metal-to-metal contact under stress. Semi-synthetic base (advanced blend of synthetic and high-quality mineral oils) — balances thermal stability, shear resistance, and cost. Robust anti-wear package — contains proven anti-wear chemistry (e.g., ZDDP and complementary friction modifiers) to protect camshafts, rocker arms, and gear surfaces. Thermal and oxidative stability — resists high-temperature breakdown so the oil stays cleaner longer and maintains protective properties on long rides. Superior detergency & dispersancy — keeps combustion deposits, varnish, and sludge suspended for cleaner pistons and rings. Corrosion & rust inhibitors — protects internal parts during stop/start city riding or prolonged storage. Good shear stability & viscosity index — maintains film thickness under mechanical stress and across temperature swings.

How it protects and performs (technical breakdown)

Viscosity control: 20W-50 provides a lower cold-start viscosity than non-multigrade heavy oils (the “20W” part) while delivering a thick, protective hot film (the “50” part). This thicker film reduces metal contact under heavy throttle, hard acceleration, towing, or sustained high RPMs. Anti-wear chemistry: Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) and advanced anti-wear agents form sacrificial boundary films on metal, preventing scuffing at times when hydrodynamic lubrication is lost (e.g., tip-to-face contact on cams/rockers). Oxidation inhibitors: Additives slow oil thickening and acid formation that happen at high temperatures, extending oil life and protecting bearings and journals. Detergents & dispersants: Neutralize and carry soot and combustion byproducts into the oil filter rather than letting them form hard deposits on piston crowns and ring lands. Friction modifiers & friction control: Tuned to give smooth clutch operation (where wet clutches are present) and reduce parasitic friction for responsive throttle feel. Viscosity Index Improvers (VIIs): Maintain a stable multi-grade behaviour so the oil doesn’t thin excessively at high temps or thicken too much at low temps.
